I wanted these pieces to reflect many of the things I and the people around me have missed while we have been in quarantine. In the first, I integrated images that symbolized feelings of summer and childhood. I felt this was especially important to include because many children are missing out on foundational months of their lives-- things like preschool enrichment and the transition from living primarily at home to moving to elementary school. I don't find that these things are recognized much by adults, but these are years children will never get back. In the second piece, I meant to represent public places and events that are now closed, choosing the example of a carnival or an amusement park. In the next piece, I included scenes of nature because my family has been severely affected by our inability to travel and explore new outdoor spaces. In the final piece, I selected images that show the connections with our family and friends we have been unable to maintain during isolation.
